Dental bonding, in a single visit
Bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin that is applied to the tooth and cured with an ultraviolet light. It is quicker and more affordable than veneers or crowns, and there is no laboratory work — the whole thing is finished in one appointment.
The honest tradeoff
Bonding removes less enamel than a veneer or a crown, which is a real advantage. But it does not last as long as those restorations and it is less resistant to staining.
That makes it well suited to minor cosmetic adjustments, and a poor choice for extensive work. If you need the durable option, we will tell you.
What happens
Around 30 to 60 minutes per tooth.
Shade matching
The resin is matched to the colour of your surrounding teeth.
Preparation
The tooth surface is roughened slightly and a conditioner applied so the resin grips.
Application and curing
The resin is applied and hardened with an ultraviolet light.
Finishing
Shaped and polished for a good fit against the bite.
